Episode 7 – Implosion

Date Aired August 18th, 2009 | Warehouse 13 Season 1

Created drama. When trying to procure a famous Samurai Sword that is so perfect it supposedly renders the user invisible an agent from the past with a vendetta against Artie shows up to wreak havoc. Pitting Secret Service against Secret Service.
A couple of thoughts. The Samurai Sword story is tremendous. What a great artifact. The rogue agent from the past was not a great idea. Finally the do this because I say so goes so far. Myka and Pete are a little too intelligent to keep that up for very long. Roger Rees who plays James McPhearson is not one of my favorite actors. He is a fine actor and that is probably why he rubs me the wrong way. He seems pretty much type cast as snooty arrogant jerks that think they are better than everyone else. Here I get the feeling he is the same character. Of course the man has a long and storied career back to 1975 so he is quite qualified. I am concerned that we have another of these weird characters which are more annoying than interesting.

This show really doesn’t need that kind of protagonist which they already tried with Allison Scagliotti-Smith. As Claudia Donovan her character is cute and different and that was fine. This character is a foil for Artie who is already so mysterious we really don’t need the extra drama.

So stop the annoying do this because I say so and get back to the interesting episodes with the objects that are the real stars of the show. Really, how many former agents can there be out there looking for artifacts to steal and use. Is this going to be a common theme?
